The Premise>> In order to gain influence over their North Carolina district, two CEOs seize an opportunity to oust long-term congressman Cam Brady by putting up a rival candidate. Their man: naive Marty Huggins, director of the local Tourism Center.
The Review>> Will ferrell can be a bit hit and miss at times. His over the top nonsense can sometimes be a little annoying to say the least. Of course all that is forgivable when you consider the genius that is anchorman. Then of course there is Mr Galafanakis, well he is ever the funny weirdly bearded go to guy when it comes to off the wall comedy. So you would guess that it could be a pretty safe bet to put these two guys together on the big Screen for some frivolous fun times.
Mr G plays a character that can only be described as some weird merge of Ned Flanders and someone out of the Andy Griffiths Show. He is frightfully naive but very funny in the process. While his family is made up of mid-western American middle of the road semi-normals, Ferrell is the opposite of his name. Polished and groomed to an impeccable degree, however it is a shame that his political backers didn’t spend a little more time teaching him common sense or the ability to think before acting. Put both these families together in political battle and the only winners are the audience.
With lots of irreverent laughs, this movie could have you in hysterics. Of course if you are a sensitive soul, you might find it a little hard to take at times as it does get a bit saucy and edgy. Particularly when the political one-upmanship starts getting super dirty. Some of the television commercials that they do are so wrong and yet so very funny.
The Verdict>> Extremely funny!
